Hadith of the week (Praying Faithfully)

Aslamualakum,



Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A.A.): Allah's Apostle (S.A.W.) said: "Whoever establishes prayers during the nights of Ramadan faithfully out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards (not for showing off), all his past sins will be forgiven."

(Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 36)


Commentery: The word “sins” applies to minor sins only because major ones will not be forgiven without sincere repentance.

563. Jabir bin `Abdullah (R.A.A.) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Beware of oppression, for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection; and beware of stinginess because it destroyed those who were before you. It incited them to shed their blood and deem unlawful as lawful.''

184. Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (R.A.A.) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Whoever amongst you sees an evil, he must change it with his hand; if he is unable to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is unable to do so, then with his heart; and that is the weakest form of Faith".

Commentary: This Hadith contains a very important prescription to prevent the Muslim society from all things which are forbidden in Islam. So long as Muslims adhered to it and ceaselessly and fearlessly performed their obligation of enjoining the right and forbidding the wrong, their society was largely safe from many evils and sins.

1023. Abu Hurairah (R.A.A.) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Any group of people that assemble in one of the Houses of Allah to study the Qur'an, tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will engulf them, angels will surround them and Allah will make mention of them to those (the angels) in His proximity.''

Commentary: The meaning of the Hadith is that they teach one another by discussing the Quranic sciences, and knowledge the Qur'an contains. This meaning is correct because both these acts are auspicious and are means of gaining the Pleasure of Allah. This Hadith, however, does not tell us in any way that this group of people recite the Qur'an all at once. This is Bid`ah for this was not the practice of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).

993. `Uthman bin `Affan (R.A.A.) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.''

367. Abu Hurairah (R.A.A.) reported: I heard the Prophet (S.A.W.) saying, "Man follows his friend's religion, you should be careful who you take for friends".

Commentary: This hadith also induces one to avoid the company of impious people and seek the association of the pious persons.

Hadith of the week (Intoxicants Big or Small)

Aslamualakum,







"Anything which intoxicants in a large quantity, is prohibited even in a small quantity."

Not only those who drink alcohol are cursed but also those who deal with them directly or indirectly are cursed by Allah.
